Residential trash service is provided by Ottawa Sanitation, Inc. through an exclusive contract with the City. In 2008, the City Council elected to award a contract for residential trash service to one trash company. Residential customers are billed for trash service on their utility bills each month at a cost of $13.30, which includes weekly pick-up and the cost of one 27-gallon rental container. Residents located north of Nelson Street or east of First Street receive trash service on Tuesday. All other residents receive trash service on Thursday.
Ottawa Sanitation also provides recycling services located behind Dee's Mini Mart. Ottawa Sanitation will also pick-up large items including furniture.
