School Crossing Guard

The School Crossing Guard will be to stop and hold traffic while children attending Edgerton Elementary are crossing Nelson Street within the designated crosswalk before and after school. This is a part-time position under the direct supervision of the Assistant City Administrator. Our ideal candidate is punctual and able to work with minimum supervision. They enjoy working with children. The ideal candidate also is able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. The School Crossing Guard will also be responsible for reporting to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office the tag numbers of individuals refusing to stop when signaled to do so, and may be called to Edgerton Municipal Court to assist in the prosecution of any such individuals. Maintenance Technician I – Public Works

The Maintenance Technician I, is a full-time position in the Public Works Department under the direct supervision of the Public Works Superintendent or Foreman. The Maintenance Technician I – Public Works will be assigned various basic duties and tasks necessary for the operation and maintenance of public infrastructure, utilities, and facilities for the City of Edgerton. Essential job functions include: construction, operation, repair and maintenance tasks on city streets and rights- of-ways; snow/ice removal; construction, operation, repair and maintenance tasks on city storm-water infrastructure; provide support to utilities department including water and sewer; mowing City rights-of-way, easements, parks and City properties; and maintenance and servicing and city’s fleet of vehicles and equipment. Development Services Director

Edgerton seeks an experienced, creative and collaborative local government professional to serve as the City’s Development Services Director. The ideal candidate will possess outstanding leadership, personnel management and technical skills as he/she oversees the operation of the Community Development Department. This candidate will be an effective communicator comfortable with many different audiences, and will be a motivated self-starter who is organized, is able to handle multiple priorities and identifies creative solutions critical to oversee the implementation of the Governing Body’s vision for the community.
 
Development activity in the community has accelerated exponentially over the past few years. Therefore, work is rewarding and fast-paced. The ideal candidate will be able to work under pressure with tight time frames, an aggressive review schedule and competing demands for time. He/she will be responsive to customers large and small but will understand major priorities. At the same time, he/she will not lose sight of other assigned priorities and responsibilities.

The selected candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in city or urban planning, landscape architecture, geography, engineering, public administration or a related field. and have five to seven years of progressively responsible related experience, including supervisory experience. A master’s degree in urban planning, public administration or related field, and AICP certification are preferred. Residency within the City of Edgerton is not required.
