The City of Edgerton is governed by a Governing Body consisting of the Mayor and five City Councilors. All members of the Governing Body are elected at-large and serve a term of four years. The Governing Body is responsible for discussing and guiding the overall direction of the City through the adoption of City policy, ordinances, and resolutions. The Governing Body meets every 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm in City Hall.

The City has two departments that implement the policies of the Governing Body. They are led by a City Administrator who oversees the daily operations of the City as directed by the Governing Body. Each department provides essential municipal services that enhance our citizens' quality of life.

Administration Department

The Administration Department provides services such as: municipal court, planning assistance, financial and budget management, utility billing and service requests and general service requests. The department is located at City Hall.
City Hall is located in the Edgerton Community Building, 404 E. Nelson and all administration departments are located at this facility.
Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon and 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Closed week-ends and holidays.
All Council records, proceedings and ordinances are maintained at City Hall. This office provides information concerning city operations to the public and issues the various licenses and permits required by the city. This office also administers all human resources activities, employment information, benefit programs and city insurance information.
All financial operations of the City are handled at the city office insuring that statutory requirements for budgeting, accounting and auditing procedures are met. Purchasing, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, investment of idle funds, municipal court, as well as planning and zoning activities are performed at the city office.

The Public Works Department provides services such as: code enforcement, building inspections, animal control, operation of water and sewer utility, street and sidewalk maintenance, and park maintenance. The department is located at the Public Works Maintenance Shop.
